Abstract
This research was done with the aim of determining the relationship of the emotional maturity and the marital satisfaction among the married employees at the state banks in the city of Urmia in 2009-2010 by using the correlation-descriptive methodology. The sample size included 342 people or 171 couples, where this ample size was estimated based on the Krejcie and Morgan table. The sample selection was done by way of multi stage random sampling method. The measuring tools included the Enrich marital satisfaction questionnaire and the emotional maturity scale by Bahar-Gahwar and Sing. The data obtained from the research were investigated through statistical methods of the Pearson correlation coefficient and gradable regression and all the stages were analyzed by the SPSS software. Results indicated that there was a significantly positive correlation between the emotional maturityand marital satisfaction. Also, this research demonstrated that there was a negative and significant
correlation between the components of the emotional maturity (emotional instability, emotional regression, social maladjustment, lack of independence and personality disintegration) and marital satisfaction. The gradable regression results indicated that the emotional instability was the strongest variable in predicting the husbands' marital satisfaction and then emotional regression and lack of independence followed respectively. However, the strongest variable in predicting the marital satisfaction of women is the personality disintegration followed by lack of independence.
