Abstract :

The current paper was done with the aim of determining the efficacy of the group behavioral-cognitive therapy on increasing hopefulness of the wives of the martyrs in Tehran. First, 200 people of the wives of the martyrs referring to the counseling center of the martyr foundation were randomly selected and the hopefulness questionnaire was performed on them. The subjects whose hopefulness level was lower than the average rate were specified and from among them 60 people were randomly selected and thus, they were equally divided into two groups. From these two groups one group was chosen as the control and the other was selected as the experimental groups by drawing. In the pretest stage, both questionnaires were administered on the subjects and the experimental group, the independent variable, was placed under a group behavioral-cognitive therapy while the control group received no therapy. In the posttest stage, the hopefulness questionnaire was performed on both groups and the follow-up stage was administered after one month. The information and data obtained were analyzed by using the descriptive statistics (frequency, percentage and average) and inferential statistics of the Covariance analysis. Findings revealed that the group behavioral-cognitive therapy has been effective on the rise of hopefulness of the martyrs' wives and the therapy was thought of being effective on the increased hopefulness in the experimental group. It is concluded that the group behavioral-cognitive therapy has significantly increased their hopefulness.
