Abstract
Introduction: The aim of this research was to study the effectiveness of problem-solving skills training on promotion of psychological capital in general, and its components (self-efficiency, hopefulness, resilience and optimism) on girl-students residing in the dormitory of Khajehnasir Aldin Toosi Industrial University.Method: This research was experimental with pretest and post-test design. Statistical sample was 34 volunteer students for participating in problem-solving instructional workshops who were placed randomly in two experimental and control groups. The experimental group received 5 sessions of problem solving skills and the control group did not receive any training. Both groups were evaluated by psychological capital questionnaire (PCQ) before and after training intervention. Finding: Univariate covariance (ANCOVA) method was used for data analysis. Analysis of covariance method indicated significant difference between the scores of psychological capital and its components between the experimental and control group, in other words, problem-solving skills training had significantly increased the rate of psychological capital in general, and its components separately in the experimental group. Conclusion: This research shows the significance of problem-solving skills training on increasing psychological capital and its components among students of the experimental group. All these researches indicate that with increase of problem-solving skills it would be possible to provide psychological capital and its components (resilience, self-efficiency, optimism, hopefulness).
