Abstract

The current paper was aimed at predicting the attitude to the pre-marriage relation based on religiosity and child-parent communication styles among B.A. students of the Islamic Azad University, Tehran's Research and Sciences Branch in the educational year of 2015. For this purpose, from the population in question, the number of 150 people was selected through in access sampling. The students were required to fill in the Fine's Child- Parent Communication Style questionnaire and the Attitude-Tendency to Pre-marriage relation questionnaire by Kurd Loo as well as Azerbaijani' Religiosity questionnaire. Thereafter, the results were analyzed by using the Pearson correlation coefficient and regressions. The Pearson correlation coefficient test results implicated that the Child-parent communication styles (maternal) components including religiosity, positive affection, role confusion/irritation and acting out as well as communication or interchange are significantly correlated with the attitude to the pre-marriage relations. In addition, the regression analysis results demonstrated that religiosity and child-parent communication styles (paternal) components contribute significantly to predicting the attitude to pre-marriage relation. Correlation coefficient results indicated that child-parent communication styles (paternal) components including positive affection, paternal assimilation and communication or interchange as well as religiosity have correlation coefficients of -0/7, -0/3, -0/6 and -0/8 with attitude to the pre-marriage relation respectively. Furthermore, regression analysis results demonstrated that components of positive affection, communication and interchange and religiosity are significantly found to be contributing to predicting the attitude to the premarriage relation. Also, correlation coefficient results indicated that child-parent communication styles (maternal and paternal) components and religiosity are found to be related with pre-marriage communications.
